Algarve (Portugal)
Algarve is a region in the south of Portugal renowned for its stunning beaches, picturesque villages, and vibrant culture. This itinerary will guide you through the best experiences, from breathtaking landscapes to culinary delights. To reach and discover the Algarve region easily, we recommend traveling to Faro International Airport and renting a car.
Sometimes you may need to embrace yourself with patience. People are very friendly and have time for everything, which means you may wait for your food longer than you’re used to waiting in bigger cities. Don’t let it ruin your trip - plan with a lot of buffers and never rush anywhere. Enjoy the sun, nature, culture, and some pastels de nata (I could eat those every day).
This itinerary includes only one bigger town - Lagos. If you would like to discover other towns in the region, feel free to visit also Albufeira or Portimao. Faro was not recommended to us, but some travelers love its vibe, so if you want to avoid crowds in Lagos in the high season, Faro may be a choice for you.
Quinta do Freixo
Check-in at Quinta do Freixo, a charming countryside accommodation nestled in the serene landscapes of the Algarve. Enjoy the tranquil environment, which is perfect for relaxation and unwinding after your journey. This accommodation will be your zen place for the whole trip. Reading, swimming, cycling, practicing Yoga, tasting Algarvian gastronomy, and visiting farm activities with more than 700 hectares of valleys, meadows, lakes, and springs, are part of the countless possibilities of those who visit. As they produce their food, you can even buy their products directly at the restaurant, in local shops, or even at the Faro Airport. Orange jam is highly recommended.Praia da Falesia
Spend your day at Praia da Falesia, one of the most stunning beaches in Portugal and even in the world (awarded with the Blue Flag Beach title consistently). Known for its dramatic red cliffs and golden sands, this beach offers a perfect setting for sunbathing, swimming, or just watching a sunset. The beach is more than 6 km long, so you’ll be able to find a spot even during the most crowded days.Lagos town
Discover the historic town of Lagos, famous for its beautiful architecture, street art, and delicious cuisine. Wander through the old town to find colorful murals and street art that tell the story of Lagos’ rich maritime history. Lagos played a pivotal role in the Age of Discovery. It was from here that many of the great Portuguese explorers, including Prince Henry the Navigator, set sail on their voyages of exploration in the 15th century.
